Tactics you can use to stay safe during an active shooter attack

Aug 5, 2022

One of our Brierwood residents received a letter from our local FBI Community Outreach Specialist that included the following Active Shooter Resource Guide.

Dear Brierwood residents:

We recently received correspondence from our local FBI Community Outreach Specialist that included the following Active Shooter Resource Guide.

In the correspondence he stated "I wanted to provide you all with some great resources to disseminate to your community to help the better prepare themselves should they ever encounter an active shooter scenario. The attached document can be shared with your community, neighbors or family member you feel could benefit from it."

It included two new videos demonstrating tactics you can use to stay safe during an active shooter attack at www.fbi.gov/survive and share with others.  Please note while the information is important for all ages, the content might be disturbing for younger viewers.

Additional tactics included:

Prepare to Survive - demonstrates how to apply the run, hide and fight tactics. Although set in a house of worship, these principles can be applied anywhere.

Run. Hide. Fight. - how one group applied the tactics while also rendering first aid. Their preparation

and empowerment led to their survival.

I hope you find this information helpful.
